SET THE STATE FOR ROMANTIC BLISS THIS VALENTINE'S
Romantic Rendezvous To Enchant and Inspire Most Any Couple

The Wedding Chronicle (The Insider's Guide to Arizona Weddings)
January/February 2003

Valentine's Day is quickly drawing near. Make this one to remember. Whether you are staying at home, celebrating with a night on the town, or getting away for a romantic rendezvous, here are a few ideas to make sure your Valentine's Day goes off without a hitch.

Consider your love's interests. Would she (or he) like to curl up in front of the roaring fireplace at home with Chinese takeout, watching a favorite romantic movie, toasting your love with frosty champagne? Or dance the night away after a gourmet dinner for two at an exquisite restaurant? You'll want to set the tone once you determine exactly what the mood will be for your celebration.

Start the day with a love note. You don't even have to buy a card. Create your own! When notes are handwritten there is a personal element that can not be found in a purchased card. Include lines from your favorite poem, song, movie, or from vows spoken during your wedding ceremony.

There is no doubt that this beginning will help lead to an incurably romantic day. When your celebration finally does take place, make it one that produces lasting memories. It's easy to create a romantic experience and all it takes are a few details.

Have plenty of candles at the ready. Candles are wonderful mood enhancers. Whether it be candlelight dinners, dances, bubble baths for two, or simply candlelight caressing, they are essential for any romantic planning. Music is another pivotal component. Complemented by soft lighting, music will help capture memories of time spent together for years to come. Listen to your favorite CDs. If you are at a restaurant, tip a violinist to play at your table. Or arrange ahead of time for the pianist to play "your" song.

Flowers have long been linked with romance. Scents capture moments and emotions like nothing else will, sparking love and triggering desire. Everyone knows that a rose is the symbol of love. Its scent is considered intoxicating.

When choosing flowers this year, don't limit yourself to roses. Lilies are celebrated for their potent aphrodisiac properties. Orchids stand for ecstasy. Anthurium confesses a man's intense attraction. Consult with a florist and have your floral selection delivered to your rendezvous.

Gifts aren't required and don't need to be expensive, but should show that you took time and care in selecting them. Tickets to a special event, a music box that plays a favorite song, a journal to record cherished memories together, two champagne flutes to toast the special occasion, or reservations at a Bed & Breakfast for a romantic weekend away are just a few suggestions.

To incurable romantics everywhere, enjoy your day! Plan a bit and enjoy it a lot.
